My Writing

I am the author of six suspense novels, four of which have been published.   The Undertaker  came out in 2011 as an e-books now available on the Amazon Kindle, Sony Reader, B&N Nook, and iBook sites for $2.99.   It is a fun, fast read; and for the price, some think it is the best suspense novel on the market  It now has over 18 Five-Star and 17 Four-Star Amazon reviews of the 37 posted (a 100% John Locke ratio) and has been in the top 5-20% of Kindle sales.   If you check the other tabs on this site, you’ll see it is a contemporary, domestic thriller and an exciting,  fun read — stark terror punctuated by lots of humor and romance.

Amongst My Enemies  was published two weeks ago on Amazon’s Kindle site, already has 8 Five-Star and 1 Four-Star reviews out of nine.  It will soon be out on the Sony, Barnes and Noble, I-Book sites.   It is an epic, international adventure thriller set in the 1950′s dealing with espionage, a long lost German U-boat filled with missing gold and art, a secret that could tear NATO apart, and one man’s quest for revenge and redemption.   From the flaming ruins of Berlin, to a hotel lobby in Manhattan, the halls of the Kremlin, a mountain top chalet in Bolivia, and the bottom of the Baltic, the hunt is on for the truth.  What happened that cold night off the coast of Sweden?  The reviews are beginning to roll in and most are 5-Star!  You can see the summary and a Preview Chapter on one of the other tabs.

Thursday at Noon is a Joan Kahn Book published by St. Martin’s Press in hardback and subsequently by Harlequin’s Gold Eagle in paperback, and in various foreign editions.

A new e-book edition will be out in March and I’m sure those who read my other books will enjoy it.   It was reviewed favorably in the New Yorker and in many other major publications in the US.   It is a fast-paced international suspense thriller and murder mystery set in Egypt in 1962, dealing with a burned out US CIA agent, a headless corpse, a missing armored regiment, an Egyptian Homicide Detective, the Israeli Mossad, and new missiles pointed at Israel.

Another new novel, Winner Lose All, is presently out with my agent making its rounds of major US publishing houses.   It is a high-concept action – adventure story about a tragic, ill-timed love between a young US OSS agent and the daring head of an underground Communist resistance cell inside Nazi Germany at the beginning of the Cold War when old enemies become friends and former allies fall out over German weapons technology.   I am in the middle of a sixth, international suspense novel, One True Shot.   You can find details and links to these books elsewhere on this site.arious foreign editions.  And am beginning to sketch out a new domestic thriller,  Through the Glass Darkly.

In addition to the six novels, I have written four screenplays.   Three of these are adaptations of my novels.   One is original for the screen.   My screenplays have won First Place in the suspense category of the Final Draft contest, Finalist in Fade In, First Place in the Screenwriter’s Utopia -Screenwriter’s Showcase Awards, Second Place in the American Screenwriter’s Association, Second Place at Breckenridge, and received many other awards.  One was optioned.   Many readers have commented that The Undertaker would make a great movie.   Although I’ve already been thru that “Hollywood thing”, if anyone wants to buy it, I already have a great screenplay for it, as with two of my other novels.

  1. Congratulations! Sounds like great books, especially The Undertaker. I love suspense.

  2. Hi there Bill!
I saw you review request on my site for “Amongst My Enemies” and I must say that I am quite intrigued, and also honored to be asked to review a second book of yours. While I’m not accepting review requests at this time, I’m making an exception because I really enjoyed “The Undertaker” and your writing style! :)

As always, you can send a PDF to my email: admin@shotgunopera.net

I’d also love to conduct an interview with you once I finish reading. Thanks so much for the opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best,
    Sasha @ The Bookshelf

  3. It sounds like you’ve got a few winners under your belt, Bill. Congratulations, and the very best of luck to you (I’ve found that ‘luck’ is a fickle thing, but skill helps to compensate for that).

  4. Hi William,
I tried to post to you on Facebook.
But the system wasn’t having it.
So I have come here instead.
Congratulations on racking up all those stars.
    You asked about Portuguese.
It’s not difficult, no. Pronunciation is phonetic, only two genders, and the grammar is relatively simple.
But, then, it was my fourth language, and my experience is that they get easier after the third.
Might I invite you to drop into our blog, MURDER IS EVERYWHERE? We don’t write about our books, or the craft of writing, but rather about subjects of cultural, historical or human interest in the countries in which we set our books. You’ll find us here:
